| Why | Read the pill on a channel card at a glance: whether the exchange is running, paused, or broken — and what to do in each case. |
| Who | Hotel administrators; the front desk, for the moments when someone asks “why does the channel show the old price”. |
| What you’ll get | You can read all three channel statuses and manage the pause — stopping and resuming delivery right from the card, without digging through settings. |
| Limitations | “Disable channel” takes effect without a confirmation dialog — click it deliberately. |
Every connected channel carries a status pill — a short label that shows what the connection is doing right now. There are three statuses: the exchange is running, delivery is paused, or there are delivery problems. The pill makes this visible at a glance — no logs or settings needed. There is no separate statuses screen: the pill and the pause controls live right on the channel card.
This article covers where the status lives on a channel card, what each of the three statuses means, and how to manage the pause from the card.
Where the status lives
Section titled “Where the status lives”Open the Channel Manager and the “Channels” tab: the “Connected OTA” list gives every connected channel its own card. On the card you’ll see the channel’s name, its external ID, and the status pill; next to them, the action icons: “Disable channel”, “Start sending to the selected channel”, “Edit channel”, “Delete channel”, and “Mapping”.
The pill belongs to the connection, not to the channel as such: a channel can be connected as several instances with different external IDs — and each connection has its own card with its own status.
Status pills exist only for connected channels: in the catalog that opens from the “Add channel” button, the channels are not connected yet, so there are no pills there.
The three statuses
Section titled “The three statuses”- “Active”. The exchange is running: price and availability changes flow out to the channel, and bookings from the channel arrive in the system.
- “Paused”. Delivery is suspended: the launch icon on such a channel’s card is inactive.
- “Error”. There are delivery problems: something did not reach the channel. What exactly and when — that is visible in the logs: the “Events” and “Channel errors” tabs. The logs are covered in the article Delivery log: verify what was sent to channels.
While the status is “Active”, there is nothing to do — the channel synchronizes on its own. Action is needed in the other two cases: pausing delivery or sorting out delivery problems.
Pause a channel
Section titled “Pause a channel”- Open the Channel Manager, the “Channels” tab.
- On the card of the channel in question, press the “Disable channel” icon.
- Check the pill: it now reads “Paused”.
Result: delivery to the channel has stopped. The system does not ask for confirmation and applies the pause immediately — so before clicking, make sure this is the card of the channel you mean.
A pause is justified in two typical cases:
- the channel itself asks you to suspend synchronization;
- a rate review before the season: while rates are being revisited, delivery can be held back.
Resume
Section titled “Resume”Delivery is resumed with the “Start sending to the selected channel” icon on the channel’s card. While the channel is paused, the icon is inactive; once the pause is lifted, it starts delivery again.
Result: a pause is reversible — the channel stays connected and its settings are kept.
Pause management lives on the card itself: both pausing and resuming happen without digging into the channel’s settings.
Disable for good
Section titled “Disable for good”Besides the pause, the card has a separate “Delete channel” icon — and that is not the same thing.
- “Disable channel” is a pause: the channel stays in the list with its pill, and the mapping of room types and rates is preserved.
- “Delete channel” removes the connection: the channel no longer takes part in the exchange.
The two icons sit next to each other and are easy to mix up — and neither action asks for confirmation. Before pressing, check the icon’s tooltip: “Disable channel” is temporary, “Delete channel” is for good.
Honest limits
Section titled “Honest limits”- Both actions work without confirmation: “Disable channel” and “Delete channel” take effect immediately, with no dialog.
- A paused channel does not disappear: the “Paused” pill stays in the list — you can see both that the channel is paused and that it is still connected.
- After a channel is deleted, you have to build its card from scratch: both the connection and the mapping of room types and rates.
- The pill is a pointer, not a diagnosis: the cause of an error and the delivery trail live in the “Events” and “Channel errors” logs, not on the card.
